When people first visit my website, one of the most common questions they have is: “What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?” It’s an important question — and a big reason why I decided to start Someday is Here Coaching.
Therapy: Healing the Past
Therapy is designed to help people heal from past wounds, manage mental health conditions, and process life events. It often focuses on why you feel the way you do, providing tools to cope with symptoms and work toward stability.
As a licensed therapist in Ohio, I’ve had the privilege of walking with individuals, couples, and families through grief, trauma, anxiety, and other mental health struggles. Therapy is an incredibly powerful resource when you need support in healing and recovery.
Coaching: Building the Future
Coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused. It’s less about diagnosing or treating and more about helping you create the life and relationships you want right now.
Coaching asks:
- Where are you today?
- Where do you want to be?
- What tools and accountability will help you get there?
Through coaching, you’ll learn strategies for communication, conflict resolution, and goal-setting. It’s about building skills, practicing new patterns, and taking action — not waiting for “someday.”
Why I Chose to Offer Coaching
I truly love being a therapist — and I always will. But after years of practicing, I wanted to create a space where individuals, couples, and families could focus on growth and change without needing a medical diagnosis or treatment plan.
Coaching gives me the chance to combine:
- My clinical training (Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Ursuline College + Master’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University).
- My real-life experience working with hundreds of individuals, couples, and families.
- My belief that lasting change doesn’t have to wait for someday — it can start today.
Why Work With Me?
There are plenty of coaches out there. So why choose me?
- Professional background: Unlike many coaches, I have years of clinical training as a licensed social worker and therapist. This gives me a deep understanding of human behavior, relationships, and change.
- Personal connection: My coaching is warm, affirming, and inclusive. I’m an ally, and I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to grow.
- Practical tools: You won’t just talk about problems — you’ll leave each session with strategies you can use right away in your daily life.
- Flexibility: Whether you’re an individual looking for confidence, a couple wanting to reconnect, or a family seeking harmony, I’ll tailor coaching to your goals.
So… Coaching or Therapy?
Sometimes, people ask me: “Do I need therapy or coaching?” The answer depends on your needs.
- If you’re struggling with trauma, depression, or another mental health condition — therapy is the right choice.
- If you’re ready to build communication skills, set goals, and create lasting change in your relationships — coaching might be the perfect fit.
The good news? You don’t have to figure it out alone. That’s what the free consultation is for.
